School holiday fun for kids!
An epic week-long January school holiday program for the kids and youth of Newcastle. Chock-full of awesome games, challenges, Bible talks, making friends and having fun!
We’ve got a jam-packed week lined up with fun activities for babies right up to senior high school. And parents are invited to enjoy our free pop-up cafe!

Our Programs
In 2024 we are running two programs.
Kids & Junior Youth (Creche–Year 8 + Parents)
Creche–Year 8
For kids as little as babies to all the way up to teenagers going into Year 8, WAVE sessions run from 9 am–12 pm, Monday to Friday. Kids and youth will enjoy a dynamic and vibrant program full of fun and connection playing games and learning about how great Jesus is! Cost: $5 per day each child, $20 for a week-long ticket or a maximum of $85 for a family for the whole week.
Parents (WAVE Cafe)
We have a special treat! Running during the Kids and Junior Youth program session head over to the WAVE Cafe for a coffee or cool drink, some morning tea treats, and friendly chats with other parents. There are also some thought-provoking short talks and interviews on a range of topics.

Senior Youth (Years 9–12)
Years 9–12
Summer nights with your mates! Senior Youth get together in the evenings to hang out, enjoy epic themed nights, and hear engaging talks that dig into the big things of life and what Jesus has to say about it.
Senior Youth don’t need to register—just rock up!
Cover charge of $5 each night.

Our Team
Who will be looking after my child?
WAVE is run by members of Hunter Bible Church who have spent much of the past year preparing games, activities and lessons. All WAVE leaders are volunteers from our Church community who have been trained by Hunter Bible Church and ALL have completed the appropriate NSW Working with Children Check.
Trained and screened
All WAVE leaders are trained in their various roles and for the specific age group, they are teaching. We take child protection very seriously, so all the WAVE leaders have completed an NSW Working with Children Check. In fact, all their Working with Children Check details is available so you can even check them out yourself.
Role models for your kids
WAVE leaders are all about 18-24 years old, therefore are natural role models for kids in primary and high school. That’s why we make sure our leaders are the right people for the job. Leaders have demonstrated their commitment to their Christian faith in their convictions and behaviours before being approved.

Hat, Sunscreen and Insect Repellent
Please make sure that your child wears a hat, sunscreen and insect repellent (optional). If you do forget, sunscreen will be available on arrival.
Morning Tea and Water
Registration includes morning tea and water. While we will try our best to cater for dietary requirements and severe allergies (e.g. peanuts), unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that all supplied food will be safe. Please pack appropriate food for your child if this is an issue and make note of it when checking in.
Other Activities
If we've planned a water-play day for your child's age group, we'll let you know via SMS the day before.

Check-In
Check-in will be facilitated by staff on arrival. When you are ready, we will give your child a name tag and a collection sticker. This ensures you are the only person who can collect your child at the end of the session.
Check-Out
Each session finishes at 12 pm sharp. Please make sure you are available to collect your child at this time.
If another adult will be collecting your child, please give them the collection sticker to use during pick-up. Alternatively, provide the Registration Leader with the name of the adult who will be collecting your child that day.
We take child safety very seriously and will not allow unauthorised adults to collect children.

WAVE is held at Lambton High School. The entrance is at the crossing near the corner of Young Rd and Central St – there’ll be lots of signs and flags – you won’t miss it!
Parking is available at the High School. However, with many families attending, you may need to park in surrounding streets and walk to the entrance.

You can register and pay online here!
WAVE costs $5 per child per day or $20 for a week-long ticket per child. For larger families, the price is capped at $85 per family.
WAVE is a non-profit event run by Hunter Bible Church, and all costs are used to cover things like venue rental, materials, activities and morning tea for all theIf your child or youth is not attending the whole week, or you would prefer not to pay online, you are able to pay at the event whilst checking in. We accept both cash and card.

While each session is in progress the school gates are locked with only one entry and exit with access (via Young Rd).
There is also a trained medical professional on-site as part of the WAVE team.

Gates open at 9am each day. Please arrive to find parking so you can be ready to enter at that time.

HBC Youth
Hang out every Friday of school term with a safe network of friends and experienced leaders, enjoy awesome theme nights, fun games and challenges, and hear engaging talks that dig into the big things of life and what Jesus has to say about it. All high school-aged teenagers are welcome, no matter what your background is or what you believe.
